Happy days

March 20, 2009

Today has been a good day, first of all it’s vernal equinox and summer is coming closer and closer every day. Main reason for being happy however is that I’ve got green light from both, Monotonik and Kill The Young because of my work for them.

My ep or mini-lp for the free netlabel Monotonik ended up including total of five new tracks instead of the three that I wrote about in my previous post. This ep will come out later in the spring, stay tuned to this blog and you’ll hear them when it’s due. In the words of Simon Carless, the head of Monotonik:

OK, so I love it, def. want to release it. It might be a month or two… OK? 🙂 It’s really strong work!

I also got first opinions from Kill The Young. For them I have done two remixes, one uptempo dancefloor filler and one easy downtempo pop tune. This is what their manager told me:

The band are REALLY loving your remixes 🙂

Oh happy days!

Kill The Young remix

March 17, 2009

Today I’ve been working on the remix for an UK based indie band called Kill The Young. This project will take most of my attention this week but I’ve already got some nice test results. My attempt is to create at least one remix for the dancefloors, anything that comes aside is just bonus.

Check their My Space for more information about the band.

Samuel – Trash The Disco

March 12, 2009

This week has been really effective production wise I must admit even myself. Besides having written tracks for the upcoming ep on Monotonik, I’ve been able to come up with these dancefloor tracks as well.

With Trash The Disco I took the idea of electroclash and nu-rave that I had in mind with Ask Why, even further. As a result it turned out to be pretty harsh track but I feel that I succeeded better at how I wanted it to be. Decide for yourself but be warned, this sort of stuff isn’t everyones cup of tea 🙂

Samuel – Ask why

March 10, 2009

Last night I started with another track. I was inspired by some of those Tiga tracks my friend posted in his Facebook profile.

At the same time I had been wanting to experiment with a bit of electro, nu-rave and house and what happened is that I finished with a stompy dancefloor filler using a bit more harsh sounds than I usually use. This version is not actually going to be the final as there are still some bits to polish, but it is the first public version.

This track uses samples from the Texas Instruments Speak & Spell toy.

Substance – Acid Reflux

March 10, 2009

It is always fun to make acid. With that I of course mean music mainly made using the Roland TB-303 bassline synth that has been one of the biggest things in the world of electronic music and also seriously inspired me in whatever I have done.

This particular track is about experimenting with multiple different basslines, most of them running on top of each other, maximum of three at a time.

New tracks for Monotonik

March 10, 2009

One post without download in between 🙂

This was a project that was already started over an year ago. It’s been nearly three years since I released something on my old friends’ Simon Carless’ internet label Monotonik. My Kuu project has always been for experimenting with more out of the ordinary sounds and ideas, and once again I have finished a new ep to be released exclusively through the label.

As the release date isn’t set yet, I will post the official link with three new tracks and a special edited version of one of those tracks when the time is due. The ep as a whole, will then consist of four tracks for the more experienced electronic enthusiasts.

Kocmohabt – The Escape

March 10, 2009

After writing those trance tracks, I took a step beyond the straight four on four beats and wrote this electro track for my Kocmohabt project. At this point I am not exactly sure whether it’s one of those projects that will come and go, so it might transfer to my Substance project at some day.

This track has a sample from the classic 1976 sci-fi movie Logan’s Run.

Start of the year

March 10, 2009

The first tracks of the year were these three acid trance tracks that I wrote for my Substance project.

I wrote these during weeks four and five, in January and February 2009. They represent an oldschool era of trance, mainly sounding like the music that was made in 1993-1994 and that has been one of the bigger inspirations on my experiments in electronic music.

2009 and new winds

March 10, 2009

I know I’m a bit late to all this blogging, but as of today I decided to channel my musical experiments into one place. This blog will act as a link to various places where I have shattered my music in the past and the present.

The main thing that pushed me onwards to this is the fact that I was made redundant a couple of weeks ago and I currently have time for this. What also has happened lately is that I have seemed to have got some of my writing motivation back. I have already written more tracks during these two months than the whole last year combined, so it is time to start publishing them through my blog.

For those who don’t know this yet, I’ve got a long background in producing electronic music using computers. To cut the long story short, I started writing music on an Amiga computer in 1989 and moved on to PC less than 10 years ago. During these 20 years I’ve been involved in the demoscene, written music for internet music labels, tv channels, advertisements, documentary films, multimedia, released records and done live gigs. For me, music is my hobby, but I’m also constantly looking for ways to get my music heard worldwide and I am always looking for new record deals.

On this page my purpose is to publish all news about my musical achievements, whenever there is an update to it. Mainly you will be able to hear what I have come up with as soon as I have finished composing my latest tracks.

A good way to listen to the tracks without downloading is to move mouse on the download link and use the WordPress’ built-in player that will open up.
