Substance – Keeper of the Purple Twilight

April 26, 2015

Believe or not! My first own track in over 5 years. It took me this long (well not quite) to actually get my ass back on the production line.

It all started already earlier, when we relaunched our Nervous+Anxious project last December, before that I didn’t even have any tools installed. Now we have already written two tracks for that project, but personally I haven’t touched FL Studio outside of that project and this pounding acid techno track is my first.

I’m not promising whole a lot of new updates, but if anything happens besides our N+A project, I’ll be posting it here. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy…

Here are the tracks that I wrote for Monotonik last winter. After waiting for months and getting various promises from Simon it now appears that these tracks are never gonna come out on the label. Therefor I decided to make them available here, for free and for your pleasure. I hope you enjoy.

As you have probably noticed, I’ve not been uploading much new material lately. It is simply due to the fact that I’ve got a job again and being made redundant was the idea of this blog in the first place. I don’t have as much time for writing music now as I am working during the week. Nothing abnormal there 🙂 But I’m not gonna stop writing music that I’ve written for over 20 years nor will I be burying this blog. I hope patience from you.

Peace.

Substance – Pouring Acid

September 18, 2009

I’ve got these patterns done and ready but sometimes I just can’t finish a track. Now I’ve collected some of those unfinished ideas together and was able to push out another track for the week.

This time it’s pure Roland TR-909 and TB-303 joy. All the sounds come from these two infamous classic elements of techno. The track is pretty cold, minimal and harsh, so if you’re not a hardcore techno lover it’s not probably for you. And then again, if you like this kind of music it’s nothing special either 😉

Substance – I Know

August 19, 2009

I was watching a live gig of Jori Hulkkonen’s and once again I got completely carried away with the sound of Roland TB-303. Motivated from that, I instantly started working on this new acidhouse track.

It’s a pretty short track for an acid track but I don’t think it matters really and you never know, perhaps I’ll write an extended version of it some day. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it 🙂

Substance – Acid Reflux

March 10, 2009

It is always fun to make acid. With that I of course mean music mainly made using the Roland TB-303 bassline synth that has been one of the biggest things in the world of electronic music and also seriously inspired me in whatever I have done.

This particular track is about experimenting with multiple different basslines, most of them running on top of each other, maximum of three at a time.

Kocmohabt – The Escape

March 10, 2009

After writing those trance tracks, I took a step beyond the straight four on four beats and wrote this electro track for my Kocmohabt project. At this point I am not exactly sure whether it’s one of those projects that will come and go, so it might transfer to my Substance project at some day.

This track has a sample from the classic 1976 sci-fi movie Logan’s Run.

Start of the year

March 10, 2009

The first tracks of the year were these three acid trance tracks that I wrote for my Substance project.

I wrote these during weeks four and five, in January and February 2009. They represent an oldschool era of trance, mainly sounding like the music that was made in 1993-1994 and that has been one of the bigger inspirations on my experiments in electronic music.
